The Class Process
Part 1: I provide (via Google Meet or email) homework for a student to do before we meet for a session in the form of reading, writing, or viewing (YouTube for example) materials. I make sure to try to make homework something that a student enjoys doing, finds valuable, and has time and energy to do. I try to set goals with students and hold them to them.
Part 2: before the tutoring session starts, students share with me the homework, teacher's notes, rubrics, and readings that I should review before we meet.
Part 3: during the tutoring session, we do the following: 1) review the homework from school and discuss it 2) review my homework and discuss it 3) provide the student advice about how to work on their assignments 4) provide the student with additional homework for them to review before next class
Part 4: after the class, if a parent or guardian is involved, I am available to discuss what we worked on, how the student is doing in the session and any feedback I have. Additional homework & resources may be sent later that same week for the student to review. I request payment and start preparing for the next class. Once my prep work is done, I let the parent/guardian know that I'm ready to book the next session whenever the student has finished the homework on their end.
